Energy Efficiency and Telecommunications Certification (MTC) in Peru

1. Energy efficiency
The Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) request that certain products are tested, certified and labelled according to Energy Efficiency requirements to help local consumers to choose energy efficient products.

The Peru Energy Efficiency Approval is available via five optional certification schemes:
• Scheme Type 1b: Type Testing (product sample from a production batch)
• Scheme Type 2: Type Testing (product sample) + Surveillance (periodical testing from samples collected in the market)
• Scheme Type 3: Type Testing (product sample) + Surveillance (periodical testing from samples collected in the production line)
• Scheme Type 4: Type Testing (product sample) + Factory Inspection + Surveillance (periodical testing and factory inspection)
• Scheme Type 5: Type Testing (product sample) + Management System Audit (production process) + Surveillance (periodical testing and audit)

2. Telecommunications certification - MTC
MTC (Ministerio de tranportes y comunicaciones, or the Ministry of Transport and Communications) is the Peruvian agency responsible for the control, supervision, and type approval certification process to assure devices properly use the country’s radio spectrum.
