IRAM and ENACOM Certification in Argentina
Instituto Argentino de Normalización y Certificación (IRAM) is a standardization and certification organization established in 1935 for electrical and electronic products.
1. Safety Certification
To export and sell electrical/electronic items to Argentina, a Certificate of Conformity (S-mark) from the designated certification agency for Electrical/electronic items is required according to the law 'Resolution 92 /98 in 1998.
The certificate must be issued in the name of a local importer in Argentina. In addition, regulated electrical and electronic products must pass through the electrical safety and energy efefficiency certification system; In the case of electrical safety, three different certification systems are applied depending on the product and the applicant's choice.
Testing and certification for S-mark Safety and energy efficiency must be carried out at local testing laboratories and certification bodies accredited by the OAA (Organismo Argentino de Acreditacion).
Type of Safety certification: includes 3 types;
- Mark Certification: This certification model includes testing product samples to assess compliance with standards and factory evaluation, followed by market monitoring. The product must have an official safety mark, plus the mark of the certification body involved in the process - IRAM. Applicable mainly to household and lighting appliances/components (including LED lamps), connectors, fuses, circuit breakers and similar devices.
- Type Certification: This certification is through product testing to assess compliance with standards, followed by market monitoring. Applicable to ITE devices and similar electrical/electronic devices.
- Certification by Lot: For imported products, each batch is sampled and after satisfactory testing, a certificate will be issued. The validity of this Certificate is only valid for that batch of goods.
Product evaluation criteria are based on the Argentine national IRAM standard (mainly referencing the IEC standard) or adding the Argentine national deviation to the IEC standard. For electronic products, most household electrical appliances and component lighting products, Argentine certification bodies accept valid CB Certificates and complete CB test reports issued by the organization. certification issued under a mutual recognition agreement.
Target products: Electrical and electronic equipment within the scope of Resolution 169/2018 (from 50V A.C. to 1000V A.C or from 75V D.C. to 1500V D.C).
Considering certain expectations, Argentina Resolution #SC 171/16 mandates mandatory compliance with applicable safety standards applicable to most electrical or electronic products with a rating below 50V and above 5kVA or 63 A.

2. Energy Efficiency Certification
In May 1999, the Argentine Ministry of National Energy, Trade and Industry passed Resolution No. 319/99 implementing an energy efficiency labeling plan for many types of household appliances, including refrigerators, laundry, air conditioner and other lighting equipment. These products must be tested at a designated testing center in Argentina.
Argentina's energy efficiency ratings are divided into seven classes A, B, C, D, E, F, G, with class A being the highest level of energy savings. The resolution requires manufacturers, importers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers to obtain prior certification that their products comply with technical standards before they can enter the Argentine market .
The certification is carried out by a certification body designated by the OAA (Organismo Argentino de Acreditación) and approved by the DNCI (Directorate National Directorate of Internal Trade).
Target products:
1) Refrigerator: Disposición DLC Nº 35/2005
2) Lamp: Disposición DLC Nº 86/2007
3) Air conditioner: Disposición DLC Nº 859/2008
4) Washsing machine: Disposición DLC Nº 761/2010

3. ENACOM certification
ENACOM (Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones),
Argentina's ENACOM certification is a mandatory certification for wireless and telecommunications products. All devices connecting to public telecommunications networks and using radio frequency bands need to register for ENACOM certification. To export wireless communications products to Argentina, it is necessary to apply for ENACOM certification. Most products require testing in Argentina and typically require 1-3 samples depending on the device. Modules and systems can be approved depending on the device's characteristics. Additionally, a local representative is required for ENACOM certification. All products must operate with an IRAM 2074 approved Type I or II plugs and an IRAM 2073 approved external power source. The power supply must operate at 220V 50Hz in Argentina
Target items :
Bluetooth/Wi-Fi Devices, Local Area Communication Devices, GSM/Cellular Frequency, Analog Communication, Digital, Fax, Modem, Telephone Handsets and Related Equipment, Most Wireless Devices and Terminal Devices Connected to Public Telephone Networks and Other Wired and Wireless Devices
Once the certificate has been issued to a Local Supplier, a specific RAMATEL ID will be issued as well. This ID must be affixed right under the RAMATEL Regulatory Identification (Resolution 854 RAMATEL 2020) Logo, which can be formed by different variations. The only case in which the ID Number can be affixed at the right side of the label is if the chosen label is the horizontal or the basic. The different variations for RAMATEL labelling are the following:
