SEC (Safety), Energy Efficiency and SUBTEL (Telecommunications) certification in Chile

1. Safety Certification - SEC
Manufacturing, importation and commercialization of certain products in Chile require mandatory safety certification and in some cases energy efficiency certification, as established by SEC (Superintendence of Electricity and Fuels).
Certification is mandatory for electrical products designated by the SEC according to the 298/2005 Supreme Decree
The SEC QR Code is the mandatory Chilean mark to be used and labelled on certified products
The SEC Approval is available via three optional certification schemes (based on the ISO/IEC 17067 standard):
• System 1: Type testing + follow up of each importation lot.
• System 2: Type Testing + Factory Inspection + Surveillance
• System 6: Recognition of Foreign Certificate (per each importation lot)

3. Telecommunications Certification - SUBTEL
In Chile, all equipment devices emitting radio frequency are regulated by the national authority SUBTEL (Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones), through the local protocol and require a mandatory certification.
