Refrigerator product certification in Thailand
Refrigerator products are required to undergo Safety and Energy Labeling certification in Thailand under the management of the Thai Industrial Standards Institute - TISI and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand - EGAT.
TISI is responsible for developing domestic standards as well as participating in the development and monitoring of international standards and quality assessment processes to ensure compliance and recognition of standards.TISI is the regulatory organization is government-authorized for mandatory certification in Thailand. It is also responsible for formulating and managing standards, laboratory approvals, personnel training and product registration.
Energy Label № 5 project is managed by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). EGAT requires the applicant to present a TISI license for each product before receiving Energy Label No. 5 from EGAT. This ensures that the product complies with TISI's required standards so that it can be sold in Thailand.
For Refrigerators, companies need to consider the new EGAT regulations:
- Refrigerator efficiency level criteria (6 levels, No.5, maximum 5 stars)
- Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Reduction
- Project Requirements Environmental (Circular Economy)
- Web Application Information displayed via QR CODE
Testing standards:
Safety: TIS 2214-2561 (Ref. IEC 60335-2-24:2010+A1:2012): Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-24:Particular requirements for refrigerating appliances, ice-cream appliances and ice makers
Energy efficiency: TIS 2186-2561 (Ref. IEC 62552-1 :2015 and IEC 62552-3 :2015): Household refrigerator and refrigerator-freezer environmental requirements: Energy efficiency Requirements for the project of energy saving label No. 5 for refrigerators.
In addition, EGAT's voluntary energy efficiency testing standards are as follows:
TIS 455 part 1-2560: Household refrigerating appliances - characteristics and test methods - Part 1 : General requirements
TIS 455 part 3-2560: Household refrigerating appliances - characteristics and test methods - Part 3 : Energy consumption and volume
Required documents for Energy:
- TISI certificate TIS 2214-2561 and TIS 2186-2561
- Test Report Freezer star type / (Freezing capacity)
- Test report TIS2186-2561
- Annex B
- Recyclable Refrigerator plastic parts list form with weight and percentage of product (If Use of refrigerant must have an ozone depleting potential (ODP) equal to 0 and a potential to cause Global warming (GWP100a) must not exceed 10) This document plastic parts is not required. (Ex. R600a)

Energy label:
The energy efficiency label must be attached to the product.
Currently, EGAT has issued an announcement on the use of the new No.5 energy label with integrated QR code and additional information such as CO2, environment,...
Below is the roadmap for applying the new labels:
- Notify test results: From 1 - 30 September 2023
- Stop printing the current label: From October 31, 2023
- Start printing a new type of label: From November 1, 2023
- Started new labeling for sale: From January 1, 2024
- Discontinue the current form of label certification: From March 31, 2024
