Overview of certification types in China
Foreign companies that want to import into China must have valid certificates for many product categories according to Chinese regulations. Must comply with applicable Chinese national testing standards (GB standards) and product-specific implementation rules to obtain required certification. The relevant certifications serve as evidence of product compliance with national quality and safety standards.
China has main types of certification including mandatory and voluntary as shown in the information table above.
1. CCC - China Compulsory Certification
All products manufactured and distributed in China or exported to China must acquire CCC certification. CCC certification is a quality and safety certification system on 23 product groups, including electrical and electronic products and vehicles. You are required to obtain a CCC certificate from a Chinese authority and place the CCC mark on your product. The product must be tested in a Chinese testing laboratory and undergo and pass factory inspections to obtain the certificate.
Products subject to CCC certification: Wire and cable, electric switch and protective device, small motor, electric welder, IT equipment, audiovisual equipment, lighting equipment, vehicle tire, safety glass, toy, telecommunication terminal device, firefighting products, etc.
Products that must be CCC certified: Electric wires and cables, electrical switches and protective equipment, small motors, electric welding machines, IT equipment, audio-visual equipment, lighting equipment, tires, safety glasses, toys, telecommunication terminals, fire fighting products, etc.
2. CQC voluntary certification
The CQC mark certification is one of the voluntary product certification services carried out by the China Quality Certification Center. By adding the CQC mark, it indicates that the product meets the relevant quality, safety, performance, electromagnetic compatibility and other certification requirements. The scope of certification is to design machinery and electrical equipment, Electrical, electronic products, textiles, building materials and more than 500 products.
For voluntary product certification, the GB/T standard can be used. GB/T is the abbreviation of Guó Jiā Biāo Zhǔn, which means national standard in Chinese, where ‘T’ means ‘recommended’.
Products in the category include: Including 160 categories of electronic products, household appliances, lighting appliances, tires, glass, low voltage appliances, water pumps, wind energy products, generator sets, motor vehicle products, commercial equipment, auto parts, textiles, building materials, cement products, sanitary ware, batteries and batteries, student products, etc.

3. China Energy Conservation Program (CECP)
Energy-saving product certification is a voluntary program that aims to save energy and reduce emissions by encouraging manufacturers to create more resource-efficient products and helping consumers make more sustainable purchasing decisions.
Energy-saving product certification is based on China's relevant certification standards and technical requirements, in accordance with internationally accepted product certification and development procedures and procedures, confirmed by the China Energy-saving. Product Certification Management Committee and passed the certification certificate and energy-saving mark to prove that a product is energy-saving.
Validity of certificate: 3 years
Product categories: Computer equipment, input and output equipment, Multi-function projectors, Refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, Motors, transformers, household appliances, television equipment, Lighting equipment...
4. Energy Efficiency Certification - CEL

4. Energy Efficiency Certification - CEL
China Energy Efficiency Label is a colorful label with blue and white background, divided into 5 levels: Level 1 indicates that the product has reached the international advanced level and is the most energy-efficient, i.e. the lowest energy consumption; Level 2 indicates that it is relatively energy-efficient; Level 3 indicates that the energy efficiency of the product is the average level in China's market; Level 4 indicates that the energy efficiency of the product is lower than the average level in the market; Level 5 is the market access indicator, and products below this level are not allowed to be produced or sold. The products with lower requirements are not allowed to be produced and sold.
Product range:
A total of 11 batches of product lists have been released, including household refrigerators, room air conditioners, household electric washing machines, self-ballasted fluorescent lamps, storage water heaters, household induction cookers, computer monitors, copiers, automatic rice cookers, AC fans, flat-panel TVs, digital TV receivers and so on.
5. SRRC Certification - State Radio Regulatory Committee (SRRC)

5. SRRC Certification - State Radio Regulatory Committee (SRRC)
SRRC certification is a mandatory program for wireless equipment and appliances using the radio frequency of the Chinese government. This system aims at preventing the distribution of products unauthorized by the Ministry of Information Industry of China. For wireless radio frequency devices and appliances imported to China, the importer must acquire the Radio Transmission Equipment Type Approval Certificate from SRRC and retain the type approval identifier (CMIT ID) of the product.
Validity of Certificate: 5 years
SRRC certification mark:
SRRC does not have a certification mark but obligates all products to include the model name, CMIT ID, and company name on the label.
(CMIIT ID: XXXXXXXXXX)
6. Network Access License (NAL) Certification
NAL Certification does not require a certification mark, but a valid test report is required for equipment accessing a public network to be sold in China.
NAL certification is issued by MIIT for telecom devices that aim to access the public telecom network, such as cell phones, modems, telecom communication terminals, ethernet switches, and more. If the device includes RF function, the manufacturer is required to obtain SRRC certification, as well as the NAL license.

Network access license certificate contains the certificate number, application unit, manufacturer, equipment name, equipment model, origin, remarks, certificate issuance date, certificate expiration date.
Validity of Certificate: 3 years
Product range:
- Telecommunications terminal equipment: connected to the end of the public telecommunications network, providing users with the function of sending and receiving information telecommunications equipment.
- Radio communication equipment: connected to the public telecommunications network, radio as a means of communication of telecommunications equipment.
- Inter-network interconnection equipment: telecommunications equipment involved in the interconnection between the networks of different telecommunications service operators or between the networks of different telecommunications services.
The NAL certification process is similar to SRRC certification. The applicant must apply to the MIIT certification center and send samples to an accredited testing laboratory in China. After successfully reviewing the report, MIIT will issue a NAL certificate. After receiving the NAL certificate, the manufacturer must apply for the NAL sticker as shown beside and attach it to the certified product.
7. RoHS certification - Restriction of Hazardous Substances:
China's RoHS 2.0 (also known as Administrative Measure on the Control of Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products) is a Chinese government regulation that controls the legal threshold of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), and polybrominated diphenly ethers (PBDs) in electrical and electronic products.
Compliance with China RoHS is voluntary for electrical and electronic products being sold into China. Manufacturers, importers, and distributors must ensure that these products meet these limits and the Declaration and Labelling Requirements of China RoHS in order to continue selling products into China.
Applicable product categories: Refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, monitors, printers, TVs, photocopiers,...
Form: Although certification is voluntary, products in the list need to comply with standards and have the following labels.
