NOM, Energy Efficiency and IFETEL certification in Mexico
Almost all products sold in the Mexican market must meet NOM labeling requirements. In addition, some products must comply with additional regulations on Energy Efficiency as well as Radio Frequency.
1. Safety Certification - NOM
NOM - Norma Oficial Mexicana is Mexico's mandatory Safety label with the NOM logo on the product to demonstrate that the product meets relevant standards.

Distinguishing points:
- Request HS code of the product
- Product testing at accredited laboratories in Mexico or foreign laboratories that have MOUs with recognized organizations in Mexico.
- Foreign manufacturers can register for certification through the SIIS - Special integrated international service program.
Only countries that have an FTA with Mexico can apply directly.
For electrical and electronic products, there are 2 organizations responsible for the inspection and related certification of NOM labels:
- ANCE: Includes all household appliances such as air conditioners, lights, TVs,... and Gas products
- NYCE: Includes electrical, telecommunications and information technology equipment
2. Energy Performance Certification
Energy Efficiency Certification under the management of the National Committee for Energy Efficiency (CONUEE) has issued all product categories under NOM-032-ENER-2013 that must be certified.
These products require domestic testing.
- Request HS code of the product
- Product testing at accredited laboratories in Mexico or foreign laboratories that have MOUs with recognized organizations in Mexico.

Telecommunications certification is managed by the Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFETEL).

3. Telecommunications Certification
Telecommunications certification is managed by the Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFETEL).
All products that use frequencies to transmit and receive signals as well as all telecommunications products that connect to the PSTN or public network must be certified by IFETEL and carry the IFETEL label.
Testing must be performed at an EMA accredited laboratory and product group certification is not permitted. IFETEL testing, certification and registration is required for each product and model.
Target products: 900Mhz, 2.4GHz, 5GHz frequency products.
